NEW WORKERS OR NEW SCROUNGERS ?

The question today is if the migrants come to France to get benefits such as unemployment benefits or family allowances.

The migrants are always in the middle of a big number of our prejudices.

The migrants benefit from our social organisation
It is true, because when migrants are very poor they prefer to get unemployment benefits than working in their country for nothing to earn. As a matter of facts, out of 100 mi-grants, 19.9 are unem-ployed and out of 100 French people in the working force, 11.6 are unemployed so the proportion of unem-ployed migrants in the work force is higher buy 8.4 percentage points than the proportion of unemployed who work.
There is an other point where we can say that it is true, it is the problem of family allowances, because when a migrant family come to France, there is generally more children than in a French family. So those can receive family allowances.
Sometimes, the migrants receive unemployed benefits and family allowances but they mustn't count just on those.
The same rights for everybody
All of these sentences are

false ! We can say that, because we can see with statistics that all is exaggerated.
The migrants don't come to France to have unem-ployment benefits but they just want a job. The most important reason, for a man, to migrate is to find a job. For example, on average, out of 100 men who migrate, 70 want to find a job. The second reason to migrate is to join their family.
Generally, a man comes to France and after he has find a job his wife and his children come too. For the migrants women, in 1992, more than the half want to join their family.
Sometimes, the migrants come without their family (wife and children) because they have no money, so the man migrate to a developed country, where he can find a job, and send money to his fami-ly. We can confirm that, because the first reason, for the women, to migrate is to join their family (their husbands), who are coming to France to work. The mi-grants who come to France are not all unem-ployed. On the contrary, the most important part is in the labour force. We can see that, if we do the unem-ployed rate, in 1995, for the migrants. Out of 100 men, in the migrant activity rate, 18.8 are unemployed and in the population of women, there are 21.8 who are unemployed. It is true that, there is a important rate of unemployment, but we can't say that they are all unemployed because 4/5 are in the work force.
After a document study, we can't say that the migrants come to France to have unemployment benefits and family allowances because they generally want a job or the most big part is in the labour force.

It is sure that a prejudice has always something true and something false.

Some figures :
The average of the migrants men who want to find a job, in 1995, is of : 68.5 %.
The average of the migrants women who want to join their family (generally their husband), in 1995, is of : 69.7%
Out of 100 French people, 8.5 are migrants.
