Immigrants, scrounger or goldmine…

If you have crossed one of that three boxes you must read this article. But if you haven't crossed anything…you should also read it. It means you're one of the victims of he most dangerous disease in the world : prejudices…
Many people have prejudices about immigrations, some of them think that emigrants came to France only to get benefits unemployment or family allowances. We try to explain you that's false.

To put ourselves in some French's shoes…

But why do people think that ? There must be an explanation. We are going to think like them. In France, we pay taxes and there is unemployment. In 1990, there were 4 million immigrants in France. If there is unemployment in France, it's their fault ! We pay taxes, we work for them ! And what do they do ? Nothing.
In summary, that French look for scapegoats.

A lot of risks

Immigrants frequently came to join family or to get a job. For 100 Spanish immigrants, in 1975 and after, 31 came to have a job and 55 to join family. It's a more valuable reason to migrate to another country than only to get benefits. It could be also to have a better way of life if it's hard for them in their own country : they need money but correct conditions of life too. However, there is a big problem for 100 people who came, in 2000, from another country : about 80 was rejected ! It's too much !! What could people do without any place to go ?
How can we imagine they take so many risks only to receive benefits ? Do you think the only idea they have, when they leave their country, it's to get this money ?
It's stupid to think they do all that, only to receive 2000 Francs (303,23 €) per month, not enough to live. Because immigrants can't always obtain the right to stay. Those who come from rich countries, and who haven't any problems with their papers, usually have a good job and don't need benefits.

To come with a promise

Above all, we can't forget that we have compelled immigrants to come to France to repopulate it and above to work in industry during the "30 glorieuses". For that, the government promise them a good job, well paid with a lodgement and others sings (but it was just promises…). Since they thought they would always have good life conditions than in their country of origin, they had children. Nevertheless, now, because of discriminations, parents and children often have bad conditions of life like poverty, unemployment,…despite the allowances.

We hope with this few lines you have thought about that problem. You've understood that benefits allow the migrants to be respected people as everybody in the country, and are not a factor of migration.
