Immigrants : Parasites ?

" Immigrants come to France in order to get Family benefices and unemployment allowances "argues people which want to get rid of foreigners. Is this stereotype fully justified or based on distorted statistics ?To find the real reasons of migrations, we must know what makes people leave there origin countries.

France allows the right of sanctuary for people who fell in danger for political reasons in their country. A lot of immigrants come to France for this reason. For example, between 1936 and 1939,during the civil war in Spain, and after during Franco's dictatorship, republicans were hunted and came to France not to be killed. Some of them stayed in France after the dictatorship. Today, this right of sanctuary is more controlled and require an investigation.
Poverty is also one of the most important reason of migration. Although the France has forbidden it, immigrants of North Africa, in majority, continue to cross the Mediterranean sea to escape from poverty. Unfortunately, when they arrive in France, some of them has to go back to their origin country, other become homeless and jobless.
During the " Trente glorieuses ", France needed foreigners to fill its industries and stop the lack of workforce. But the crisis arrived and the unemployment suddenly increased, immigrants were considerate as people taking French's labour. The action sound really pejorative : we used them and throwed them away. Paying them allowances is the minimum we can do.
But over all, the major reason for foreigners to come to France is to join their family. This is why, since 1975 out of 100 immigrants,52 came to see their family
We can see in the history that their are a lot of reasons why immigrants come to France. Unfortunately they constitute the part of the population the most affected by unemployment but allowances are perhaps the last things which come to their minds.
