Immigration and unemployment are too often associated.

IMMIGRATION : MAIN CAUSE OF UNEMPLOYMENT?

Today, some people still think that immigrants hold jobs of French citizens. According to them, it's THE reason of unemployment. Although there is a right part, since the proportion of unemployed among active immigrants is higher than the proportion of unemployed among active French people, nobody can maintain that is cause of the increase of unemployment.

 

Skilled for their job.
That's right; in average, immigrants are less skilled than active French people so, they are recruited in job not much skilled. But, if an employer chooses an immigrant instead of preferring a French person it's just "the low of the stronger". Certainly, the immigrant has got better qualities for this job than this French person. It's normal that the person the most efficient has obtained that job, isn't it? Contrary to that, in addition, there are discriminations from employers. Some times, companies prefer taking French employee than an immigrant employee. So the one who supports the unemployment arises from the immigration doesn't know their difficulties to find a job. Then, she can't says that

France needed immigrants.
During the "30 Glorieuses", France needed a lot of immigrants to work. So, the authorities called for help Maghrebian people. This population gave back an important service. Today some people want that they come back in their origin country. The politicians didn't think to the consequences: these immigrants became more and more after several generations and stayed in France. But now, the jobs that the immigrants occupy are replaced by engine. It isn't in no case the fault of immigrants if they are today in difficulties. The immigrants helped France in the past and, now France has to help them.

Equality facing the employment.
Some people say "immigrants work where the other refuses". Often, immigrants are obliged to occupy precarious job. In fact, they believe they aren't able to do something else. Nobody give them the possibilities. Nevertheless, the statistics (according to INSEE) show that a lot of them are clerical workers, skilled workers or executives. So, France would lose many skilled people if she would decide to deny oneself them.

Fewer immigrants, less consumption.
The economy of a country depends mainly of the production and also the consumption. Immigrants are important consumers; if tomorrow they are come back home, the economy would decreased. The depression economic would has as consequence the increase of unemployment. Then, to sum it up immigrants consume, they create new jobs.
