History

In Thales' history, there are only a few important dates:
It's in 1893 that the Compagnie Francaise Thomson-Houston was established. In 1919, it was the Compagfnie Sans Fil (CSF) which was founded.
In 2000 it was the formation of Samsung Thomson CSF in South Korea.
The firm has known a reorganisation into 3 business areas. And, the 06/12/2000, CSF became THALES.

 

Main activities

Thales main activities are:
- The aeronautic pole, whose objective is the conception, the installation of equipments and electronocal systems devoted to make the air transport safer.( examples: radar, machines which control automatically, machines which make simulations...)

-The defense pole, whose objective is thed conception and trhe installation of equipments, electronic systems and weapons, for the army. ( examples: equipments, weaponsw and electronic systems for military boats, the military planes, tanks, radars, missiles, infrared cameras...)

Status of the firm

Thales is a private firm.
In this firm, there isn't a owner , but a few shareholders:
- Public, who has got 47.38% of the shares;
- the French state, with 31.85% of the shares;
- Alcatel, with 9.46%;
- Dassault, with 5.72 %
- and THALES who owns 5.59%.

 

Stock information

The firm is listed on the Stock Exchange in Francfort, Paris, Virt-x and London.
On the 22nd of january, the value of the share was of 29.23 euros ( the higher value of the share was 57.75 euros, in decamber of 2000, but since then, all technologic stocks have fallen down).
The firm is divided in 171 864 292 shares ( so we can deduce that the value of the firm was about 5 billions euros).
