Description of the demand
- 2 types of customers are targeted by Thales:
* customers for aerospace;
* customers for the defence.
In the aerospace, Thales
targets the Direction of Civil Air Force, airports authorities, air companies
and planes constructors ( like Boeing, Airbus...)
For the defance, Thales targets the Defence ministry of a country or his army
forces like the Army, the Air Force, the Navy or Civil Security Forces
They also have activities in the telecommunications, that's why some of their
customers are phone operators, telecommuniacations firms...
- In general, the market
is remaining the same, but in detail, we can see that the new equipment sales
don't really progress comparatively to the maintenance and modernisation of
equipments sold in the past ( the firm provides those services) which is increasing.
in fact, in this type of market, an equipment or a system costs a lot ( because
it's very complex ) and it lasts a long time ( 20 years or more ). But the market
isn't saturated, it's still expanding because after saling something, the firm
does the maintenance ( technical assistance...) ,and the modernisation and that's
how firms earn money.
- the market size of the firm is international because Thales has subsidiaries in france and in all over the world.
