A SYMBOL OF EUROPE

Identification

The document is a virtual image. It dates from 2003, it comes from Internet
(www.google.fr). We don't know the author.

Description

It represents a magnet, which is the sign of euro. It's composed of ten flags that symbolise the ten countries, which will enter in European union in May 2004. The ten countries are: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, The Czech Republic, Cyprus, Hungary, and Malta. There are some lines to show the attraction of the European union. On the document, it's written "Mega Europe", Europe at 25.
The focal point of the image is the euro.

The author had the intention of showing the enlargement of the European Union to include other counties. He focuses on the attraction of the European Union on the ex-communist countries.
According to him the euro is the symbol of the European Union. The author wanted to say that Europe has an important influence on other countries. The lines on the document represent it.

Our opinion

We find it very true, it's a right representation of what will become the European Union. It illustrates the motivations of the ten countries to enter in Europe. It's the economic system of the European Union, which attracts other countries. We think that the countries believe they will have a better life. It's a mean to see the end of the poverty.
It makes us think of the future because the European Union has not finish to get bigger.
Maybe in ten years, we will be 40 countries!

Two reasons of this choice

We have chosen this document because it's an original representation of the European Union. It is not a simple photo but a virtual image.

We took this document because we think that the enlargement of the European union is a very important event for Europeans like us: it's not every year that European union gets bigger.
