Differences between Europe and Africa
Introduction:
We are going to talk about the differences between Europe and Africa in the following sectors: economy, social and cultural, geography, politic and human rights, and demography. In each sectors we will choose two points which represent the best the differences and the similarities points of this two continents.
1)Economy
The economy of Africa and Europe is very different.
· The PIB/habitants of Africa is lower by 24370€ compared to the one of Europe. This difference can be explain because Africa is less industrialize than Europe and the climate is not appropriate for cultures.
· The consummation of water is higher by 220 liter per days for one person in Europe. In Africa there isn't much water because of the climate.2)Social and cultural
· The analphabetism rate is more important in Africa than in France by 30 points. This different is due to the fact that children are obliged to work to earn money so they can't go to school. On the contrary in Europe the children's work is forbidden and the school is compulsory and cheap.
· The people who use internet in Africa is far less important than in Europe because African don't have a lot of money; so they buy necessities and not luxuries.3)Geography
· The urban population is 50 percentage points higher in Europe than in Africa. They must cultivate to eat. It is also difficult to live in cities if you don't have any qualifications. Whereas in Europe there are more associations in cities to help the poor people to find a job.
· The irrigated land are more important in Europe. In Africa they don't have enough technology and money to do that. There is also a lack of water in some region.
4)Politics and human rights· The age to vote is the same in Africa than in Europe: 18 years old. Even if Africa is less develop than Europe the law of the two continents are sometimes the same.
·The independence of some countries in Africa was later than European countries like France, Norway and Greece. Europe colonized Africa so they were obedient and they couldn't developed their own country.
5)Demography and health· The infant mortality rate is far higher in Africa than in Europe by 83 points
(for one thousand). It is due to the medicine because there are not enough doctors and the means are not sufficient.
· The Africa population is younger than in Europe. It is, like the infant mortality, due to medicine. There is not medicine for sick people.
Conclusion:
As a conclusion we can say that Africa and Europe are very different in all sectors. At the beginning of our work, we know there were some differences, but we didn't imagine they were so important. Most of these differences can be explained because of the colonization of Africa. It finished quite late, and so it caused the underdevelopment. All this information reflects the differences between a developed country with a developing country.
