Louis Antoine comte de Bougainville
He was born
in 1729, in Paris (France).
After mathematics and military studies, he came into the navy in 1763.
He already had a passion for sea and adventure which became his real life when
he sailed around the world from 1766 to 1769.
After having crossed the Strait of Magellan, he went through the Pacific Ocean
and discovered a group of isles in the South West of the New Guinea, which he
called Louisiade.
Then, he continued his worldwide tour by the Salomon Isles and came back by
the Cape of Good Hope.
In 1771, he published a book titled Voyage autour du Monde in which he told
all the stories he lived with the strange inhabitants of Louisiade called the
Papuans.
