WHAT THEY DO

Solidarité Sida try to help the Aids’s infected population by sensitizing people to this illness and make them understand the prevention is necessary. Those ones may give charities that would be useful for the patients. This charities are distributed by Solidarité Sida to other associations that work on the spot. Solidarité Sida also denounces the inequalities between developed and developing countries : the seconds can’t profit the new techniques because the politicians of the firsts thinks that’s too expensive. An other aim of Solidarité Sida, is ,thanks to the prevention, reduce the increase of the number of contaminated people in the next years.

Since Solidarité Sida was founded 12 years ago, it has distributed more than 9 million euros in France and foreign countries but particularly in African countries. Solidarité Sida develop plans for other associations and thereabouts let them focus on other points.

In foreign countries, Solidarité Sida concentrate on 5 actions :
1. To track
2. To permit the access to the treatments
3. To form to the prevention
4. To develop the local helps (town or department)
5. To improve the techniques

Solidarité Sida gives food, clothes and a place to sleep to those who are touched by HIV because they think that this illness is difficult enough to not have to think to such primordial necessities. But unfortunately, they are so many patients that it’s almost impossible to help everybody.

Solidarité Sida go on the spot to speak with the people, they explain why putting condoms during sexual relations is important. They noticed that it was useful because lots of question were asked to them about AIDS : in foreign countries, some people don’t even know what it is. They advise people to go to different associations’ centers to verify they aren’t infected or to learn how they can help this associations. They distribute condoms, explicative leaflets…

To sensitize the population, Solidarité Sida organize 3 shows in France : “La Nuit du Zapping”, “Solidays” and “La Nuit de l’Humour”.

During La Nuit du Zapping and La Nuit de l’Humour, they show, of course, scenes of what happened in France this last years and act jokes to raise money. But above all they profit of those big reunions to show small movies about AIDS. Some professionals (doctors, psychologists…) and some volunteers stay to answer to all the questions the spectators could have.

Till now, more than 300 000 persons have assisted to, at least, one of these shows. And each show bring new volunteers. It’s really this spectacles that lead all the association of Solidarité Sida.

Solidays is an international festival where stars and unknown meet with the public to say “NO” to AIDS. Almost all the associations that fight against AIDS give appointment in this festival which last only 2 days.
