The comparison
The South America is very different comparatively to Europe. There is not a lot of factor in common.
The "resemblances"
The number of woman for 100 men is the common point of Europe and South America. There 103 women for 100 men in Europe and 104 women for 100 men in South America.
The differences
- Demography: There is a big difference of population. The population in Europe is two times higher than the population in South America. (785 000 000 inhabitants in Europe against 358 000 000 inhabitants in South America). The population in Europe is bigger than in South America because the infant mortality is higher in South America(30 for 1000 children) than in Europe(8 for 1000 children) and the life expectancy is higher in Europe (W:81 and M:72.5). The population density is lower in South America (16.8 inh/km² against 70 inh/km² in Europe) because there is less inhabitants and the surface is higher than in Europe. In Europe the households are 2 times lower than in South America. (5.4 people per family in S.A against 2.8 people per family in E.).
- Geography : The percentage of forest in South America is higher than the percentage
of forest in Europe (E:34% ; SA:52%) This difference is made because there is
a big tropical forest called "Amazonian". The surface in Europe is
less important than in South America.(E: 10.5 M km² SA: 17.8 M km²).
The precipitation in South America are a lot of time higher than the precipitation
in Europe.(E: 74.5 mm/year SA: 1256 mm/year). In South America the climate is
not the same, in Europe it is a continental climate whereas in south America
it is a tropical climate.
- Economics : Unemployment in South America is higher by about five points than
in Europe because the governments in South America countries can't give jobs
to all the population because they are poor. The GDP is about three times higher
in Europe than in South Africa because there are more enterprises in Europe
: it is a big international commercial point. The GDP per habitant is nearly
three times higher too in Europe. The inflation in South America is about three
times higher than in Europe because the economy and the politic run better in
Europe (less unemployment, conditions of life better, more rights). The proportions
of cars in Europe is more than five times higher than in South America because
the technology is more advanced in Europe and people have more money so they
can aff d it. The proportions of phones is about three times higher in Europe
than in South Ameria because a lot of people in South America don't need it
and can't afford it.
- Social and cultural : The infant mortality rate
is higher in South America thon in Europe. Out of 1000 children, 30 dead in
South America and 8 dead in Europe. In South America there is certainly less
doctors in the country and not enough hospitals whereas in Europe, the hygiene
is better. Finally, South America is under developing thon Europe. The human
development indicator in Europe (0.84) is higher than in South America (0.70).
But for an illustration, Brazil is n developing country. The proportion of illiteracy
in Europe is higher by9 points thon in South America. (Europe: 6%, South America:
15%). Indeed, in South America there is (mot enough/not) school in the countryside.
Comparatively to Europe, 95% of the population is Catholic in South America.
In Europe, there are a lot of different religions. (In France the majority of
the population is Catholic; in Germany: Protestant; in England: Anglican).
