Adolf Hitler is one of the most important personality of the twentieth's century. Powerful dictator, he was the leader of Germany between 1933 and 1945.
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20th , 1889 in Braynan am Inn, Austria, from a modest family. When his parents died he decided to go to Vienna and to apply for "Beaux Art" School. But he failed twice at the passing examination because of lack talent. Having no job and no home he became a real tramp. So he went to Munich in 1913 in order to integrate the German Army. During World War I, he was a courageous and brilliant soldier. So he was very touched by the German's defeat in 1918. In September 1919, he joined the DAP (Deutsh Arbit Party). Thanks to his speaks ability he took the control of the party which he renamed : National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazi Party).
Accused of a plot with the Putsch in Munich, Hitler was put in a jail and took advantage of the eight months in prison to write a book "Mein Kampf" where he exposed his ideas, particularly his wish to rebuild a strong Germany. He was released in 1924. Because of the 1929's crisis people became very poor and Hitler was the only one who seemed to propose a real solution by promising jobs, a strong Germany and national glory. So the party, spreading its ideas, became very important : Nazi representation in the Reichstag (parliament) rose from 12seats in 1928 to 107 in 1930.

Hitler was named chancellor in 1933. Within a few months, he got rid of all his opponents. For instance, after a fire broke out at the Reichtag (Hitler accused the Communists). Hitler achieved to suppress the Communist party, his main rival and by the same time he created the first concentration camps for them. So once in power he established a dictatorship : he banned all political parties except the Nazi one ; he made a Nazi controlled German labour front so all the worker had to be members of the association to be allowed to work. He send people anti-Nazi to concentration camp he did away with resistence. Moreover the economy, the media, etc were under Nazicontrol and thanks to propaganda he made German people love and support him, people would "obey" him also because his police, the SS and his secret police, the Gestapo were feared : the opponents would be sent to concentration camps. However he achieved to convince Germans that they were the superior race, marriage between Aryans and Jews, considered as inferior people, were banished by the antisemist.
